Eligibility Criteria for the DAAD University Summer Courses

  • Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must be currently enrolled in either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program across any subject area.
  • Academic Progress: Bachelor’s students must have completed at least two academic years by the start of the scholarship period.
  • Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the commencement of the funded stay.
  • Institutional Affiliation: Applicants must be enrolled at a university in one of the eligible countries (excluding Germany) at both the time of application and throughout the scholarship period.
  • Grant Frequency Limit: There must be a gap of at least two full years between receiving grants for university winter or summer courses. Eligibility is restored if the last grant was awarded in 2021 or earlier.
  • Early Application Provision: Applicants are eligible even if they have not completed their second year of higher education at the start of the scholarship.
  • Language Proficiency: Candidates must demonstrate the ability to understand lectures and participate in group activities in German.
  • Language Certificate Requirement: A German language certificate, not older than one year at the time of application, must be provided. Accepted certificates include onSET-Deutsch, TestDaF, Goethe Institut-Nachweis, DSD, DSH, telc Deutsch, and ÖSD-Zertifikat. Certificates from B2 or TDN4 levels may be older.
  • Minimum German Language Proficiency: Applicants must provide proof of at least an A2 level in German.
