The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies in Qatar offers fully-funded scholarships for international students who wish to explore diverse disciplines. This program represents a unique opportunity to study abroad, and applications are now open. These scholarships are for students from outside the State of Qatar.
The Institute was established in 2015 as an independent institution of higher education, offering Masters and PhD programs, and adopts Arabic as the primary language of instruction with emphasis on the necessity of proficiency in English.
The Institute offers Masters degrees in two main programs: Social Sciences and Humanities, and Public Administration and Development Economics.

Admission Requirements for Doha Institute for Graduate Studies Scholarship
General Requirements:
The applicant must not have previously benefited from this scholarship.
The applicant must not have received another scholarship during the same period in which he/she is seeking a Doha Institute scholarship.
Specific Requirements for Doctorate:
The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in a related or related field with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50.
The applicant must have a master’s degree or equivalent with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75 out of 4.00, from a university recognized and accredited by the Qatari Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
Applicants must have regularly completed their studies for both bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
Applicants must be able to conduct academic research and study in Arabic, with proficiency in English to support academic and research activities.

Requirements for Master’s:
- The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, achieving one of the grades listed in the Institute’s approved grade schedule.
- The student must have obtained a Bachelor’s degree within the past five years to ensure keeping up with modern academic knowledge.
- Students who are in the final year of their Bachelor’s studies and are expected to graduate in the same year in which the application is submitted to the Institute are eligible to apply for the program.
- The applicant must be able to conduct academic research and study in Arabic. He/she must also have a working knowledge of English.
- Applicants who are not proficient in Arabic but meet all other requirements will be subject to an oral and written Arabic language test to assess their proficiency before being announced for admission.
Required Documents for Application to the Doha Institute
For Ph.D.:
- Complete the online admission application with all required attachments. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated.
- Identity documents:
- copy of your passport (for international students).
- copy of your national ID card (for Qatari citizens and residents).
Academic qualifications:
Certified copies of your bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
Certified copies of your bachelor’s and master’s degrees’ academic records, including credit transferred from other universities.
Language test results:
IELTS Academic minimum 7.
TOEFL iBt minimum 94.
- copy of your master’s thesis, graduation project, or research sample.
- statement of between 750 and 1,000 words explaining your motivation for pursuing a PhD, how your academic background will contribute to your success, and your future plans.
- Around 2,000 words outlining your research interests and areas you intend to investigate, and the names of potential academic supervisors.
- Three letters of recommendation from individuals who know your academic background, to be sent directly to the online admission application.
- copy of a CV showing academic and professional experience.
Required Documents for Master’s:
- Complete the online admission application, through which you must submit all the required documents.
- A copy of your passport.
- Bachelor’s degree certificate or its equivalent, or an official graduation certificate. This does not apply to final-year students.
- Updated transcripts for all undergraduate courses, including any transferred credits from other universities. Final-year students should provide all transcripts up to the date of application.
- Two recommendation letters from professors familiar with the candidate’s academic work and scholarly experience. Additional recommendation letters may be sent by the candidate’s supervisor at work if the applicant has work experience.
- Provide IELTS Academic test results with a minimum score of 5.5, TOEFL iBt with a minimum score of 59, or DELF B2 with a minimum score of 50.
- Students who have earned their Bachelor’s degree from an American, British, Canadian, Australian university or one of their branches abroad, or from Qatari universities that use English as a medium of instruction, are exempt from the English language requirement.
- Graduation requirement is 6.5 in the IELTS Academic test or 79 in the TOEFL iBt. Accepted students who score 5.5 or 6 in the test are required to take mandatory English language classes to meet the graduation requirement during their studies at the Institute. Exemption is granted if the student retakes the test during their studies and achieves the required score for graduation.
All academic transcripts and the Bachelor’s degree certificate or its equivalent must be translated into Arabic or English.

- Start by creating your account on the Doha Institute website using the link provided.
- Enter all the required information in the online application form. Make sure to fill out all the fields accurately to ensure your application is evaluated correctly.
- Upload all the necessary documents including educational documents, letters of recommendation, test scores, and any other required documents as directed by the application.
- After completing the application and uploading all the required documents, submit your application. You will receive notification of acceptance or rejection after your application has been reviewed by the Institute’s admissions committee.
