Stanford Summer Fellows Program
The Stanford Summer Fellowship Program in the United States is an intensive training program focused on democracy and development, run annually by the Center for Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law (CDDRL).
This program is an opportunity for people from developing countries who aspire to improve democratic processes and economic and legal reforms in their regions where issues of freedom, human development, and good governance are at stake.

Program Location
The 2025 Stanford Fisher Family Summer Fellowship Program will be held at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI) at Stanford University in California.

Eligibility Criteria for the Stanford Summer Fellows Program
- Applicants from countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, and European Union countries are not eligible to apply.
- The program does not require an application fee.
- Target candidates: Mid-career professionals working in the fields of democracy, development, and rule of law.
- Required backgrounds: Government professionals, academics, lawyers, social entrepreneurs, business people, and civil society organizations such as trade unions, NGOs, media, and professional associations.
Applicants must have a proven track record of achievement in a field relevant to democracy, development, and rule of law. - IELTS or TOEFL scores are not required to apply.
- Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree.
- Students currently enrolled full-time in universities are not eligible to apply.

Note: Sections 3, 4, 6, and 9 require the most attention from applicants, as they play a major role in assessing eligibility.
