With approximately 150-200 intern places allocated annually, the World Bank opens its doors to students from all over the world. This fully funded, four-week program offers unique opportunities to participate in shaping international development. Interns have the opportunity to work directly on projects that impact the global arena, reflecting the Bank’s commitment to continuous improvement in the development field.

Most internships are held in Washington, D.C., with opportunities in regional offices as well. Interns are responsible for obtaining a G4 visa, and are expected to join in early May.

This is an invaluable opportunity to contribute new ideas and unique perspectives to the World Bank, while improving your skills in a diverse work environment.
Training is available in various modules such as Human Resources, Communications, and Accounting, and its availability depends on the business needs of each training course. An excellent opportunity to enhance your CV and gain practical experience in development and other business departments.

  • The World Bank pays an hourly salary to all interns.
  • A travel allowance of up to $3,000 will be granted. (if applicable)
  • Provides an allowance for return air travel expenses of up to US$3,000 at the discretion of the director.

Eligibility criteria:

To be eligible for training at the World Bank. Candidates must have:

  • Earn a bachelor’s degree and enroll in a full-time graduate program (pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree with plans to return to school full-time).
  • There is no age limit.
  • Fluency in English is required. It is recommended to know languages such as French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese and Chinese. Other skills such as computing skills are useful.
  • The World Bank encourages diverse professional and academic backgrounds to apply.
